As we move into our fifth year, it seems appropriate to take a pause and reflect.

We started this portal with the idea that information flow in global steel and related industries had reached a new stage in its evolution, an age of information, after the age of information technology. And therefore free flow of information of general nature, without any charge, was the need of the hour to keep persons in the industry abreast with happening and developments in the industry. And we have been quite successful in achieving this…

We declare, with great pride, that, www.steelguru.com continues to maintain its number one position among all the English based steel portal in the world, with more than 2 million page hits per month.

We would like to list some of the major milestones achieved in last 12 months as well as some of the new initiatives take by us to serve you better.

1. As per www.alexa.com ranking, on 3 month average basis, www.steelguru.com is 38,536 from the top among all the web sites in the world with reach of 0.00248% and page views of 0.000249%. As per our own counter, we are getting more than 66,000 page hits per day on average, including Saturdays and Sundays.

2. The number of articles in our data base has swelled to 90,808 as of May 31st 2009 and with our powerful search tool, it has become a reference for many

3. The circulation of our flagship E mail based daily news letter Steel trade Today, being published in 7 flavors, has increased to more than 40,000 subscribers spread across 174 countries.

4. During the year, we have optimized www.steelguru.com by changing the UI for easy accessibility of various features as well as reduced the size for quick loading for slow internet connections. We have also started publishing “Featured Articles” and conducting on line weekly poll on burning issues. In addition, we have added features to convert an article as well as to covert the entire STT into a PDF file for your ease.

We shall be publishing tips to improve your experience at www.steelguru.com through a series of articles in coming times.

5. Last but not the least, due to innumerous requests from our readers, we have launched 4 services for reporting domestic prices for benchmark products in India, China, Middle East on daily basis and Europe on weekly basis as well as FOB levels at Black Sea, China, Turkey and Rotterdam. In addition, we are also providing special packages for monitoring scrap prices and spot prices of Indian iron ore. Thus we can become your listening post for keeping tab on prices. 6. We are also publishing Monday Market Monitors’ for India, China, MEA, Europe, CIS, Iron ore and scrap, which outlines market changes & various signals during previous week, our own analysis of the trends and forecasts.

Publishing a focused newsletter 24x7 requires some serious resources. Without our advertisers, we would not have found the resources to improve.
