Indian steel giant Steel authority of India Limited, ranked No 21 among the global steel makers in 2008 by worldsteel based on production volume, has notched first place globally for the popularity of its website.
worldsteel published a list of 80 top global steel makers based on the volume of steel production in 2008. The websites of these 80 companies were assessed for their ranking by using a popularly used and generally acceptable independent free web site ranking services of www.alexa.com as on August 18th 2009.
SAIL notched first position with the Alexa rank of 32,574 which means www.sail.co.in is 32,574th website from the top among all the websites on the internet. This indicates that although ranked 21st in terms of volume, SAIL has really moved up in information dissemination through the internet, as it commands such a high rank.
