As we move into next year, it seems appropriate to take a pause and reflect.
We started this portal with the idea that information flow in global steel and related industries had reached a new stage in its evolution, an age of information, after the age of information technology. And therefore free flow of information of general nature, without any charge, was the need of the hour to keep persons in the industry abreast with happening and developments in the industry. And we have been quite successful in achieving this
We declare, with great pride, that, www.steelguru.com continues to maintain its NUMBER ONE position among all the English based steel, metals and mining portal in the world, with more than THREE MILLION page hits per month (About 100,000 per day).
We would like to list some of the major milestones achieved in last 12 months as well as some of the new initiatives take by us to serve you better.
1. The number of articles in our data base has swelled to 141,256 as against 90,808 as of May 31st 2009 as we published 50,448 articles during this period at an average rate of 138.2 per day including Saturdays and Sundays.
2. The circulation of our flagship E mail based daily news letter Steel Trade Today (STT), being published in 8 flavors, has increased to more than 52,000 subscribers spread across 184 countries, as we added more than 12,000 new readers during this period.
3. We added several features like On Line Poll, Interviews, Featured Articles, CSR Corner, Technology Tales etc to keep you updated in these areas.
But most importantly, as we have to move in tandem with changing trends on internet, sharing of information by you with total ease using popular tools like Face Book, MySpace, Twitter, Digg, Google Bookmarks, Yahoo Bookmarks and many more became pivotal for us and thus we incorporated them. In addition, after remaining an electronic copy of a printed news letter on internet for so long, we wanted to give you better and brighter interface using flexibility offered by the electronic media. All these factors galvanized us to redo the front end as well as back end, optimize our database, write smarter queries, use lighter but cleaner images, use high end servers and many more. We launched news look, highly functional and greatly optimized, www.steelguru.com by changing the User Interface (UI) for easy accessibility of various features in December 2009.
Last but not the least, our paid services for reporting domestic prices for steel products and iron ore in India & China on daily basis and Middle East & Europe on weekly basis as well as FOB levels at Black Sea, China, Turkey, India and Rotterdam became an essential tool for a large number of market players globally to optimize their operations. We would like to thank our subscribers for relying on our services and taking our prices as independent & unbiased benchmark to know real time levels as well as draw trends.
