According to Mr Xin Guobin head of the Performance Inspection & Coordination Bureau under Ministry of Industry & Information Technology at the press conference for 2010 Spring Report on China Industry Economy that through M&A China has had 11 steelmakers with crude steel capacity exceeding 10 million tonnes per year.

In particular, Baosteel, WISCO and Hebei Steel Group boast over 30 million tonnes per year capacity each, while Anben Steel Group, Shandong Steel Group and Shagang respectively own more than 20 million tonnes per year.
