Recently the HFW high speed premium coupling that Baosteel and CNOOC jointly developed physically passed the full size performance test and won the joint approval of the experts and professors of CNOOC and Southwest Petroleum University. It was unanimously assessed as the product with good stabbing, quick makeup, strong screw connection, and the physical quality as good as designed level.

The high speed premium coupling for offshore application in China had been previously imported. Last year, Baosteel and CNOOC jointly set up a project group to develop HFW high speed premium coupling for offshore working conditions with good stabbing and makeup performance, in order to meet the domestic offshore demand and reduce exploration costs.

During the joint development, Baosteel and CNOOC carried out quite a few deep technical exchanges on the solutions, and designed the HFW high speed premium coupling with high performance, so as to satisfy the needs of the offshore oilfields. In the mean time, Baosteel developed the associated tooling kits and measuring devices and formulated the appropriate manufacturing process for this product.
