Baoshan Iron & Steel Co Ltd Caterpillar excellent supplier gold medal winner is one of the two enterprises and only iron & steel company in Asian-Pacific region with that laurel.

Based on principles of mutual benefits, Caterpillar established corporation relationship with Baosteel in extensive areas of steel appliance, R&D over ten years ago. Caterpillar updated its supplier qualification system in 2007, rating qualifications into four grades of platinum, gold, silver and bronze according to competitive advantage and strength.

Since 2005, Baosteel supplied structural steel with no quality dissent from Caterpillar contributed to enhance cooperation between the two sides. To improve the situation, Baosteel set up special working teams with Product Development Department taking the lead and participated by departments and units of sheet sales department, Baosteel Intl. Steel Trading Co Ltd, operation improvement department, manufacturing department and hot rolling plant.

Thereafter, Baosteel became sole gold medal winner in Asian Pacific region to supplier steel to Caterpillar.
