2011China Listed Company Reputation List appraisal result was recently released and Baosteel Co Ltd wins the title of most socially responsible listed company.

The list is chaired by the "Daily Economic News" and joined by a number of media and 116 institutions. It includes four categories: the performance reputation list, major shareholder commendation list, deputy general manager commendation list and social responsibility reputation list.

Baosteel has always attached importance to corporate image and social responsibility and the returns and contributions to society and investors. This is the reason that Baosteel is awarded most socially responsible company" in "2011 China's listed company reputation list.

For the average investor, whether listed companies can give regularly dividends to minority shareholders has become an important reference measure of its social responsibility. During the 10 years since Baosteel Co Ltd. is listed, the proportion of annual cash dividends is not less than 40% of net profit, and it keeps the steady and raising trend. For 10 years, the cumulative dividends reach CNY 45.07 billion accounting for 50.22% of the cumulative net profit. Even in 2010, during the steel market turmoil and the overall decline in industry profits, the company still gives investors CNY 5.25 billion of dividends.

Baosteel tries hard to solve environmental problems, which embodies an important aspect of their social responsibility. During "Eleventh Five-Year" period, Baosteel Co Ltd has invested CNY 1.668 billion in environmental protection projects and the company sulfur dioxide emission reduces 63%. More than 60% of the surface area concrete and brick in Shanghai World Expo are made from Baosteel slag. It can both save resource consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emission, which helps reduce the urban heat island effect.

In addition, Baosteel has also released the industry exclusive "Green Manifesto and "Product Environmental Statement which express Baosteel confidence in accepting public supervision and continuously improving environmental performance. Baosteel actively participates in social welfare undertakings. From 2006 to 2010, it donated CNY 157 million to the society, among which CNY 50 million as donated to the China Environmental Protection Foundation in 2007 for the establishment of "China Baosteel Environment Prize Fund".
