On May 16th 2011, more than 160 employees of Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Co, a subsidiary of Chinese steelmaking giant Baosteel, showed up for work at Baosteel's Zhanjiang project, an indication that Baosteel is about to commence the main construction work on its Zhanjiang project.

An official from Baosteel Group confirmed in an interview that the main construction work on the project in question will start before June 2011.

To date, Baosteel has invested CNY 4 billion in its Zhanjiang project.
