Benxi Iron & Steel Co has succeeded in 2300mm hot conti rolling mill test run on December 1st 2008 which means the accomplishment of the 3rd hot conti-rolling production line after 24 month construction.

The 2300mm hot conti-rolling units, ranged from the diversified specifications with the thickness of 1000mm to 2150mm to 1.2mm to 25.4mm is expected to produce 5.15 million tons of HR sheets and X80 oil pipeline steel, extra width auto sheet, high-strength structure steel etc.

A Benxi Steel source said that the move made the mill's dream of building a 10 million tonnes prime flats base to come true. It is taken as the widest hot conti-rolling mill following the commissioning of the 5 sets of 2250mm rolling mills of Baosteel and Wuhan Steel.

The hot conti rolling production line, designed with the world first-class technology and crafts, also achieves a good performance on environmental protection, with 98% water recycle utilization and the national fixed smog & exhaust emission index.

As the widest and most advanced hot conti-rolling unit in the domestic market, the success of its hot load commissioning is a key step for the mill to enter into the international market.
