
It is reported that CNPC, the Sudan Energy and Mining Ministry and Petronas, the Malaysian state run oil firm have signed a MoU to upgrade the Khartoum refinery in Sudan.
As per report the refinery built in 2000 with a refining capacity of 5 million tonnes per year has seen its supply account for 80% of the Sudan market.
According to the MoU, CNPC and Petronas will upgrade the Khartoum refinery in exchange for a greater stake in their upstream projects in Sudan. CNPC is currently operating five upstream projects in Sudan.
