
It is reported that China National Petroleum Corporation the parent of PetroChina suffered a direct economic loss of CNY 223.3 million from an accident on July 16 at its Dalian plant which led to the leakage of a huge amount of crude oil into nearby rivers.
According to the report, the Dalian plant suffered four fire accidents during the past 13 months. The State Council had meted out punishment to 64 people responsible for the accidents.
For the July 16 accident, Shanghai Xiangcheng a CNPC subsidiary and illegally filled up desulfurizer into the pipeline leading to the outbreak of the fire accident and oil leakages.
