
China Petroleum Daily reported that China National Petroleum Corp, parent of Asia largest oil and gas producer PetroChina has signed an agreement with Saudi Aramco for further cooperation.
The newspaper which is run by CNPC reported that the memorandum of understanding was signed during a visit by CNPC General Manager Mr Jiang Jiemin to Saudi Arabia on December 18-21.
It said Mr Jiang talked with Mr Khalid A. Al-Falih, chief executive officer of Saudi Aramco, on expanding oil trading and cooperation in refining and oil engineering fields. It didn't elaborate on details of the MOU.
Mr Jiang also met Saudi Oil Minister Mr Ali al-Naimi. Naimi said the Saudi government would fully support any cooperation CNPC has with the world largest oil exporter.
The newspaper said prior his visit to Saudi Arabia Mr Jiang visited Singapore and met Singapore Prime Minster Mr Lee Hsien Loong.
