According to an official from China Ministry of Commerce in response to the establishment of WTO panel of judges to investigate EU duties on Chinese fasteners, EU should revoke regulations and determinations in violation of WTO rules.
EU duty violates WTO rules and harms China legitimate interests hence Chinese government and enterprises are strongly dissatisfied with the move. China urges EU to revoke regulations and determinations inconsistent with WTO rules and stop moves that will severely disturb normal bilateral trade and hurt industry in both countries.
China initiated the WTO case on July 31st six months after the EU announced plans to impose the five-year duties on imports of Chinese iron or steel fasteners valued at about EUR 575 million in 2007.
