China Business Newswire quoted Chongqing branch of the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission Chongqing Municipality in South Western said China recently put a large waste-fueled power station into trial operation.
The power station was jointly built by a wholly-owned environmental protection subsidiary of Chongqing Iron & Steel Co Ltd and Covanta Energy Corp, an America-based company engaged in waste-to-power and other power generation projects. The station has a processing capacity of 1,800 tons of waste per day and will be able to generate 180 gigawatt-hours of electricity every year.
