Danieli is supplying key equipment and advanced technology for the two independent high speed wire rod mills, each with a capacity of 750,000 tonnes per year under construction at Shangdong Laigang Yongfeng Steel Co Ltd for production of engineering and special steels wire rod in coils.

The two mills will produce 5.0 mm to 25.0 mm dia plain and 6.0 mm to 16.0 mm dia deformed wire rod, finished at up to 115 mps in coils weighing up to 2.3 tonne in a large variety of steel grades including carbon structural, engineering and special steel grades, including tyre cord, cold heading, alloy structure, spring and bearing qualities.

The Danieli scope of supply, for each of the two lines, includes a 2-pass DWB pre-finishing miniblock, and the high speed finishing rolling line, that for the wire rod mill 1 will include an 8-pass DWB plus a 4-passTMB finishing blocks, while wire rod mill 2 will feature a 10-pass DWB finishing block.

Danieli will also supply the DSC controlled-cooling line and the oil-film-bearing type loop layer with associated auxiliaries for both plants. Danieli Automation will supply the automation system for the scope of work of the two lines. Start up is scheduled for the Q2 and Q3, 2010.
