It is reported that Dongfang Electric Corporation signed a contract, in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi, with Electricity of Vietnam Group over the first-phase offshore thermal power plant of Tra Vinh in Vietnam.

The plant is designed with 1,245MW installed power capacity. Of the total USD1.39 billion investment, 15% will be contributed by Vietnam and the residual 85% by China.

The plant is scheduled to go operational in 2014 to 2015 spans. Then Vietnam will have access to 7.5 to 8PWh of electricity of the project per year.
