China Knowledge reported that Ford Motor Company sold 30,976 cars in China in January this year, 41.9% less than that during the corresponding period of 2011. The sharp decline in auto sales last month was due to a low inventory and the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday.

Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Company Ford Motor's passenger vehicle JV in China sold 18,324 Ford branded vehicles last month reflecting a decrease of 43% year on year.

Jiangling Motors Company, Ford Motor's commercial vehicle JV, saw its auto sales volume fall 43% YoY to 12,045 units in January.

The company said that its Chongqing based assembly plant jointly constructed with Changan Ford Mazda starts operation in the Q1 this year.
