
China Knowledge reported that Ford Motor Co, the second largest car company in the US sold 28,669 passenger vehicles in China in September up by 40% more than in August.
Of the total sales, 28,126 units were sold via a joint venture Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co established between Ford Motor and Changan Automobile Co Ltd reflecting a year-on-year increase of 6%.
Sales of the Ford Mondeo model in China jumped 37%YoY to 5,791 units last month.
Mr Joe Hinrichs chairman and CEO of Ford China said the Chinese sales for September accounted for 60% of its total sales in the Asia-Pacific region and Africa, adding that the company intends to launch 15 new models in China by 2015.
In the first nine months of 2011, Ford Motor passenger vehicle sales in China soared 10% year on year to 385,957 units of which 233,981 units were sold through Changan Ford Mazda Automobile up by 7% YoY.
