Baosteel fourth generation of roller slag processing device is successfully settled in POSCO No 2 steel mill.

Recently, the device system passed the performance test with all the technical indicators meeting international standards. POSCO believes that the device is of good design, good performance is safe and reliable and its technology has reached world advanced level.

After many times of study and exchange, in August 2009, the two sides formally signed agreement, POSCO ordered two sets of the fourth generation roller slag treatment device system from Baosteel. To ensure the successful settlement of Baosteel self innovative environmental technology in world first class steel company, Baosteel Co Ltd leaders organized experts to carry out thematic studies. Baosteel Science and Technology Development Department, Baosteel Engineering, Baosteel Research Institute, steel mill and MCCBTS sent out experts and formed a project team.

Faced with high requirements raised by POSCO on project design, manufacture, commissioning and equipment operation, roller design team based on Baosteel Research Institute adhered to world class standards, pursued excellence, made 12 major improvements and innovations and developed the fourth generation roller slag processing device.

Constrained by the on site working conditions, equipment installation platform were designed five meters under the floor with a special exchange pool. It added great difficulty to the design, equipment manufacturing and installation. Meanwhile, the slag processing capability required by POSCO was beyond that of Baosteel. Therefore, Baosteel Engineer and Baosteel Research Institute optimized the project design and ultimately meet customer requirements.

Late last year, the two sets of roller slag processing device passed thermal trial successfully. After two months of safe operation, recently Baosteel roller slag processing device passed the owner device capability examination with 100% of utilization capacity. Baosteel slag processing device is successfully put into operation in POSCO, helping POSCO to achieve cleanness, recycling and short process in slag processing and expanding the international fame of Baosteel roller slag processing technology.
