SteelOrbis reported that recently, following the approval by China’s National Development and Reform Commission the 3.8 million kilowatt wind power base construction project begins in Jiuquan City, Gansu Province. It will be the region’s first wind power base of tens of millions kilowatt.

Gansu Province, with abundant wind power resource, has a total wind power reserve of 237 million kilowatt accounting for 7.3% in the nation. By the end of 2007, Gansu Province’s installed wind generation capacity had already reached 510,000 kilowatts. Alone in Jiuquan City, the yearly wind generation capacity has reached 600 million kilowatts, one of the five largest wind power generation farms.
