POSCO made concrete progress on its Chinese headquarters in Beijing. The Beijing POSCO Center will consist of two towers consisting of 26 floors and 31 floors, respectively, when it is completed by June 2014.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Beijing POSCO Center was held at Dawang, Chaoyang on March 17. Some 150 guests attended the event, including CEO Mr Chung Jun-yang and other POSCO executives, Korean Ambassador to China Mr Ryu Woo-ik and leading figures in political and business circles.
POSCO is planning to move all of its Beijing offices to the new building, including the headquarters of POSCO China, POSCO E&C, POSCO ICT, Daewoo International and POSRI. The building will also house offices for POREKA, POSCO Training Center and the Innovation Hub, which is expected to improve group synergy and association.
POSCO has not maintained a headquarters in China since selling its Shanghai office in 2009.
Dawang district, which is located close to the highway leading to Beijing Capital International Airport, is a new district developed by the municipal government as an international business and science R&D complex.
