Hefei to build regional shipping hub

Cargo News Asia reported that Hefei City, the capital of the Anhui province in China, is planning to build a shipping hub to connect Anhui's Chaohu Lake with the big ports along the Yangtze River, including Nanjing, Ningbo and Shanghai.
Mr Yu Zhengfa chief director of Hefei Maritime Safety Administration said the city is investing USD 146.4 million in waterway rebuild, transport management and wharf construction.
Hefei Port's integrated wharf, with construction investment of USD 29.3 million will start a trial operation at the end of 2009.
