It is reported that Xilin Steel & Iron Croup Company has explored a sustainable development road for the high energy consumption enterprises through technologic innovation and equipment optimization.

The company was founded in 1966 with the original designed output capacities of 80,000 tonnes per year. Backward facility level high consumption and high cost forced Xilin Steel to fall into hard situation last 1990s. Meanwhile, the bad geographical location also brought difficulties to Xilin Steel.

As per report, the averaged steel production cost was arriving at CNY 2,627.18 per tonne, 50.74 higher than the industrial level. In 2005, Xilin Steel decided to start regroupings with Chengdu Tongde Group being as a private owned enterprise.

So, production cost reduction and profit growth are the only way out for the steel company. It has outdated three high energy consumption converters, and reformed full continuous casting production lines which used for more than 20 years in Feb 20 2009.

In 2009, Xilin Steel has overcome the global financial crisis to realize CNY 10.2 billion of sales incomes and CNY 199.9 million of net profits, with the steel output of 25.6 billion tonnes becoming the largest steelmaker in Heilongjiang province.
