Interfax China quoted the Henan Electric Power Corp said Henan Province power demand reached a record high July 25.
HEPC said the province operational power installed capacity reached 41.83 GW on July 25 exceeding the 40 GW mark for the first time. In 2010, Henan peak daily operational installed capacity reached 36.08 GW.
HEPC added that Henan is the fifth province to see its daily operational installed capacity exceed 40 GW following Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shandong provinces.
A representative from HEPC who wished to remain anonymous said "While supplies have been tight, there have been no cuts in Henan power so far this year."
In 2010, to achieve strict carbon emissions targets, some cities in Henan cut power to industrial and residential users resulting in social unrest. The provincial government responded by urging municipal governments to restore power to residential users.
