It is reported that Henan Province unfolded its elimination of backward production capacities following the collapse of the 200 tonne old mixer furnace in Xinyang Iron& Steel Group Co.

Henan province 2011 backward capacity elimination planning which is going through approval procedures at present was co drafted by Industry and Information Technology Department, Department of Finance and Energy Planning and Construction Bureau according to which, Henan province intends to eliminate obsolete capacities of 158 enterprises in 15 sectors, including 0.81 million kilowatt-hours of the outdated power capacities, 1.18 million tonnes of iron making capacities, 2.27 million tonnes of steelmaking capacities, 30,500 tonnes of electrolytic aluminum, 0.11 million tonnes of ferroalloy, 2.1 million tonnes of coking coal, 9.65mln tonnes of cement.

Data shows that last year Henan province accomplished the outdated capacity elimination task in 14 sectors of 230 enterprises assigned by national government and 37 enterprises assigned by provincial government, and successfully weeded out 506 obsolete production lines, making it rank first in both the total volume of capacity elimination and number of enterprise elimination.
