It is reported that Jiujiang, a city in Jiangxi province devoted major efforts to developing ten key industry clusters whose revenues aimed to register at CNY 10 billion to CNY 50 billion after 3 to 5 years efforts with a special bid for a gain of CNY 30 billion from steel industry cluster core business by 2012 and the figure is targeted at CNY 50 billion by 2015.

The local government is now propping up Jiujiang Iron & Steel Co Ltd in updating and eliminating backward which is the leader of the city steel industry cluster and boasts an annualized capacity of 1mln tonnes construction steel, 1.5 million tonnes wire rod, 1.5 million tonnes steel plate and 5.5 million tonnes crude steel expectedly by the end of 2011.

It is also promoting the 6mln tonnes project of high qualified crude steel by Xinyu Iron & Steel Group Co Ltd and Pingxiang Iron & Steel Co Ltd other two steel companies in the city industry cluster targeting to be the largest-scaled high qualified steel base in Jiangxi province.

Besides, the local government of Jiujiang is taking active measures to push the manufacture of high value-added steel plate and high-qualified hard wire rod with high content of carbon.
