China Knowledge citing Mr Li Fuchun director of Development and Reform Commission of Jilin Province as saying that Jilin Province, one of provinces in North China, plans to spend a total of CNY 400 billion on the development of energy industry, including nuclear power and wind power, during the 12th Five-Year Plan period from 2011 to 2015.

Song nuclear power project, the province first nuclear power plant involving an estimated investment of CNY 85 billion which is scheduled to start construction in 2012.

According to the source, four nuclear power units are expected to be installed in the first phase. Upon the completion of the project, the annual output value of the plant is expected to reach CNY 22.5 billion.

China nuclear power installed capacity is expected to reach 40 million kilowatt by 2020 and will generate 260 billion to 280 billion kilowatt hours of electricity each year.
