In the first eleven months of 2011, Jiuquan Steel produced 2.18 million tones of steel, which will hit 2.44 million tones in the whole year. As of mid December, Jiuquan Steel medium plate output has reached 920,000 tonnes which is likely to climb up to 958,000 tonnes in 2011, up 15,000 tonnes compared with that of prior year.

By the end of November 2011, Jiuquan Steel rolling and refining mills reduced the unit raw material consumption in making steel from 1077.775 kilogram per tonne of 2010 to 1076.51 kilogram per tonne on the average. On the outlook of 2012, Jiuquan Steel is going to uplift the annual steel capacity to 2.6 million tonnes including 380,000 tonnes of high carbon variety steel, and in order to optimize product mix, Jiuquan Steel determines to change 2.2 million tones of steel-making capacity into billet capacity.

In addition, Jiuquan Steel is going to make high speed wire rod at full capacity in 2012 and realize the annual capacity of medium plate at 920,000 tonnes including 60,000 tonnes of stainless steel.

In 2012, Jiuquan Steel set to cut unit raw material consumption further by 8 kilogram per tonne to 1069 kilogram per tonne.
