
Koppers said that it had MoU with several companies to build 3 coal tar based carbon product facilities in Pizhou City, Jiangsu Province, China.
The MOU is between Koppers and Nippon Steel Chemical, Sojitz JECT, Pizhou City People's Government and Yizhou Group for 250,000 tonne coal tar distillation plant owned by Koppers and Yizhou Group and two plants producing needle coke and carbon black owned by units of Nippon Steel Chemical.
Mr Walter W Turner president & CEO of Koppers said that "The joint cooperation among these entities brings together the many strengths of each partner to further expand our presence in the carbon and chemical markets in China."
The company's Koppers Inc subsidiary also received an order worth between USD 9 million and USD 11 million for treated railroad crossties for Vale in South America. The order is expected to be completed in 2012.
