Interfax-China quoted the National Energy Administration said the Pushihe pumped-storage hydropower plant in northeast China Liaoning Province has commenced operations.

The first of the plant four 300-kilowatt generators went online January 18. Construction on the CNY 4.5 billion plant in east Liaoning Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County began in 2006.

The plant other three generators will go online by the end of this year. The plant is expected to produce 1.86 million megawatt hours of power annually once fully operational.
