
It is reported that Hanjin Shipping took delivery of a new 4,300 TEU ship that was christened Hanjin Durban at Samsung Heavy Industries at Geoje Island in Korea. The vessel is the fourth in a series of the eight 4,300 TEU container ships ordered in 2005.
As per report, Hanjin Durban is equipped with an engine that consumes less fuel than other ships of the same class and can easily change its speed according to operational situations. The ship will be deployed in Hanjin's AWG service and will come online in early September in Busan.
Mr Jong Sun Lee executive vice president of Hanjin said that the company would be able to improve schedule regularity with the new vessel and upgrade the competitiveness of our fleet.
The rest of the 4,300 TEU ships order will deliver by the second half of the year and Hanjin are planning to order vessels of more than 10,000 TEUs in the near future.
