It is reported that Xichang Gangfan Steelmaking Plant, a subsidiary of Sichuan Province-based Chinese steel producer Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group successfully produced 20 tonnes of vanadium slag at its vanadium-recovering converter furnace No. 1. The vanadium slag in question contains 17.5% vanadium pentoxide.

The furnace in question which is the largest vanadium-recovering converter furnace in China has a designed annual production capacity of 150,000 tonnes of vanadium slag.
