Xinhua citing Mr Hou Qijun general manager of the PetroChina Jilin Oilfield as saying that the company aims to produce about 10 million tonnes of oil and gas in 2015.

Mr Hou a deputy to the National People Congress which is convening its annual session said the oilfield began to be explored in 1961. During the past 50 years, 23 oil and gas production zones have been discovered.

By the end of 2010, proven reserves of oil and natural gas reached 1.42 billion tons and 82.6 billion cubic meters respectively.

The oilfield produced 7.5 million tons of oil and gas in 2010 ranking the seventh largest among China's oilfields.
