It is reported that Baosteel Special Steel's steel smelting shop has resumed operations of continuous caster, which was stopped operating last September as the market demand for billet is moving up.

The 100 tonne 5 strand continuous caster has played a significant role in the transformation of products from the common coexisting with the quality to the all round excellent since the come on stream March 1997. The line has had the product mix changed so much that it has taken the major responsibility for auto and railway construction source.

The plant decided to restore production of this line in light of increasing market requirement of such kind of billet. Now it almost revives to the normal function level after overhaul and test running.
