Latest statistics indicate that Qinhuangdao coal shipping prices fell rapidly. Analysts said with continuous rising volume of coal imports the pressure on coal transportation from north to south China will be effectively alleviated.
According to coal shipping prices from Ying Tung Shipping Co., Ltd., take 20000-26000 tonne ship as an example, freights from Qinhuangdao Port to Shanghai, Zhangjiagang and Guangzhou on February 1st decreased by CNY 17 per tonne, CNY 17 per tonne and CNY 20 per tonne respectively compared to that on January 18th and the chain fells are 25.4%, 23.6% and 18.2% respectively.
Analysts said this freights fell is mainly due to increasing coal imports in south areas caused by decreased Chinese domestic operating rate near the Chinese New Year. The continuous rise of coal imports would ease the pressure on domestic coal and will also release ocean shipping capacity.
