As per reports, Shangdong province has accelerated the pace of shifting business from inland to coastal areas following the appointment as a trial state to adjust steel product mix. This province has clearly pointed out that they will build a quality steel products base from next year.

Being as a big coastal economic entity, steel production and consuming province, Shangdong province is fully typical of the development pattern, space layout, industrial mix and technological level in national steel industry.

Industry participants indicated that as a trial province, they will brace a new opportunity for adjusting their steel industrial structure.

According to the provincial plan, Shangdong province will control the total steel capacity within 50 million tonnes and the number of steel mills will be reduced to 5-6 from 21.

The regional government aims to finish M&A of Rizhao Steel and Qingdao Steel, speed up building steel base project and etc.
