
China Knowledge reported that Shanghai GM, a joint venture between General Motors and SAIC Motor Corp Ltd sold 620,000 sedan cars in China in the first six months of 2012 ranking first among the top ten sedan makers' list released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
FAW-VW Automobile Co Ltd ranked second with sales of 576,300 units, followed by Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd with sales of 522,800 units, Dongfeng Nissan Ltd with 369,700 units, Beijing Hyundai Motor Co with 306,600 units, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co with 220,000 units, Geely Holding Group Co with 216,600 units, FAW Toyota Motor with 214,000 units, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co Ltd with 208,600 units and Chery Automobile Co Ltd with 201,300 units.
Only Chery saw a YoY decline in sedan sales in the period, while the remaining nine automakers maintained steady growth, with FAW Toyota Motor and FAW-VW Automobile recording faster increases.
