
China Knowledge reported that Shanghai General Motors Co Ltd, a joint venture between General Motors and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp or SAIC sold a total of 959,900 sedans in China last year, ranking first in the Chinese top automaker list released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd ranked second with sales of 908,900 sedans followed by FAW-VW Automobile Co Ltd with 837,500 units, Beijing Hyundai Motor Co with 583,200 units, Dongfeng Nissan Ltd with 563,100 units, BYD Co Ltd with 517,100 units, Chery Automobile Co Ltd with 502,100 units, Geely Holding Group Co Ltd with 416,200 units, Changan Ford Automobile Corp Ltd with 406,400 units and FAW Toyota Motor Co with 386,400 units.
In 2010, the combined sales volume of the ten automakers amounted to 6.08 million units accounting for 64% of the total sedan sales in the country.
