
China Knowledge quoted the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in a statement said Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture between Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp and German auto giant Volkswagen AG recalls 7,544 units of Santana in China from September 8.
The AQSIQ said the affected Santana model was manufactured between March and August this year. The automaker said the faulty steering column in these cars may leads to steering failures, adding that all affected units will be fixed free.
In the first eight months of this year, Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive sold a total of 836,074 cars reflecting a YoY increase of 11.59%.
