It is reported that after the picture phone meeting on obsolete capacity held by the State Council on May 5th, Yunan Province and Shaoguan municipality revealed their targets on washing out the backward steel.

Municipality of Shanguan, an important production base in Guangdong Province declared to close down and weed out outdated steel capacities of 1.613 million tonnes including 1.583 million tonnes for steelmaking and 30,000 tonnes for iron smelting during 11th five year period. The 30,000 tonnes iron smelting capacity is reportedly having been closed down.

In the same time, Yunnan Province also revealed its elimination tasks for this year, aiming to taking out 2.838 million tonnes for steelmaking and 150,000 tonnes for iron smelting. The governor said the province will arrange no less than CNY 100 million for promoting the elimination campaign in all involved industries each year.
