According to the statistics by Zhangjiagang Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau there were altogether 11 imported scrap ships with a value of USD 16.60 million lying at Zhangjiagang port to be recycled by end February. In comparison, only one ship there at the same time of last year.

International shipping industry turns out to be sluggish for the financial turmoil. However, it indicates the coming of ship recycling peak.

The imported scrap ship used for recycling has been brought into the imported scrap material management, bearing high risk. Thus, in order to ensure their quality, Zhangjiagang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau strengthened efforts to check all those imported vessels and ship recycling enterprises as well as requiring them to reinforce self-discipline.
