Interfax-China quoted the Sichuan Electricity Power Corp said Western China Sichuan Province is facing potential power shortages during the summer peak consumption period.
SEPC said Sichuan daily power generation capacity currently stands at 460 GW hours while the province's peak daily power demand is expected to reach 500 GW hours this summer.
The SEPC said it would prioritize power supplies to government agencies, hospitals, public transportation systems and residences over industrial and commercial usage.
The company also said that it would expand its power purchase from central and northwestern China to fill the gap.
