Mr. Chang Xiaocun director of Department of Market System Development of Ministry of Commerce said in January 29th that because the rural housing improvement and renovation of dilapidated buildings require a lot of building materials, a lot can be done in stimulating construction materials demands in rural areas to further expand domestic demands.
In fact the stimulating policies of construction materials demands have not entered operational phase yet. The department responsible for the operation has not been determined and products are still under investigation.
From the investigation, products would include steel cement and other materials for building houses in rural areas. “Steel and cement are the most important products used to build a house and the greatest demand. In general, the stimulating policies of construction materials demands will be operated in phases.” said an authoritative source.
Although specific rules are to be introduced, the incentives of construction materials demands will be another important step to stimulation the rural consumer market.
Mr Chang Xiaocun said China’s rural consumption increased by 15.7% in 2009, faster than urban for the first time since 1986. This is due to the increase in income of the farmers and a series of policies to stimulate consumption.
Similarly, the stimulating policies of construction materials demands would have a strong stimulating effect on farmers to improve the owner-occupied housing and home appliances, textiles and other consumptions will also be driven by improved living conditions.
