Chinese steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation in 2009 produced more than 100000 tonne of HiB silicon steel, double the volume of 50,000 tonne for 2008, representing a new breakthrough in its output level of high-grade oriented silicon steel.

In recent years, WISCO has made great efforts in the development of large-scale production of HiB steel, a key material in the manufacture of large transformers, with its annual output of HiB steel growing to current levels from just 20,000 tonne in 2007.
