WISCO to construct 7 ports in China to cut freight charges

Changjiang Daily reported that Wuhan Iron & Steel Corp ranking No 7 in the world and No 3 in China in terms of steel output in 2008 had planned to construct 7 large ports in China to reduce its freight charges.

And the newspaper also learned that the preliminary design has settled for its Fangchenggang steel production base-used port lately.

Depending on Qingshan port where the mill headquartered, WISCO planned 7 ports under or prepare to construct distribute at Hubei Ezhou, Wuhan Yangluo, Jiangsu Taicang, Zhejiang Zhoushan and Guangxi Fangchenggang etc. All the 7 ports are natural deep-sea ports with geographical advantages.

As per report, the 7 ports can help cut WISCO annual traffic costs by CNY 370 million after construction complete by satisfying its annual 50 million tonnes raw materials transport as well as steel products shipment.

WISCO had started to speed up ports distribution in China since 2005.
