It is reported that Wuhan Steel, Baosteel and Anshan Steel the three top state owned steelmakers in China have a crush on domestic oriented silicon steel market which is expected to provide 0.7 million tonnes of demand.

As per report, price of the product is generally at over CNY 20,000 per tonne.

1. Wuhan Steel is the first oriented silicon steel producer in China and has the largest outputs so far. According to Mr Wang Zhe an analyst of CITICS said Wuhan Steel will churn out about 0.3 million tonnes of oriented silicon steel in 2009 and take the first place in the market.

2. Baosteel which is expected to produce about 80,000 tonnes of oriented silicon steel this year started the contestation with Wuhan Steel since 2008. In 2009 Mr Xu Lejiang Chairman of Baosteel makes frequent visits to domestic transformer and generating set producers to promote the product.

3. Anshan Steel, hoping to occupy a space in the market is expected to put its oriented silicon steel project into production in 2010.

An official of electric power Equipment Company who denied showing the name said that downstream companies, sensitive to the prices, will make choices among domestic and oversea resources after comparison.
