It is reported that the roller type quenching machine for producing 3800mm medium plate and quenching techniques research and development project jointly accomplished by Xinyu Iron and Steel Group and Northeastern University has received the first prize for 2010 Science and Technology Prize in metallurgy industry.

The two sides have successfully developed varieties of tempered steel plates which created considerable profits for Xingang. Wear steel, pressure container steel, high-strength structural steel were included, of which the property after quenching techniques reached or was even higher than the inner quality standards of companies from home and abroad and the flatness was also superior to exports.

Xingang group is the largest medium plate production base in China, also the largest metal product production base in Asia. The market share of Xingang ship building plate ranks the top in China and 5th in the world. That of steel stranded wire ranks the first in Asia and occupies 5% of the global market shares. In addition, the high end new product development has also made breakthroughs, among which deep punching steel, structural alloy steel and auto making steel account for 21% of the total steel products. The high end plates are expected to reach 82% by 2015.
