According to Jiangxi Province based Chinese steelmaker Xinyu Iron and Steel Group, its iron ore pellet output in 2011 totalled 1.2736 million tonnes exceeding the record volume of 1.2175 million tonnes achieved in 2010.

Xinyu Steel continued to eliminate backward production capacity during the year in question dismantling three sintering machines. The iron ore sinter output of Xinyu Steel in 2011 totalled 12.69 million tonnes.
