It is reported that Yunnan Province based Chinese steel producer Xuanwei Fenghuang Steel Co has started construction of a 1 million tonnes capacity electric arc furnace and also of a mechanical casting part production line with an annual capacity of 2.8 million pieces. In addition, the company has commenced a technology upgrading program at its hot rolled round bar production line which has an annual production capacity of 900,000 tonnes.

The projects, to be carried out with an aggregate investment of CNY 800 million are expected be completed within three years. Following completion, the projects are expected to yield an annual production value of CNY 4 billion.
