It is reported that Yichang Three Gorges Quantong Colored and Galvanized Plate Co Ltd, the largest galvanized plate production base in China located in Yichang Economic Technologic Development Zone, has followed path of self innovation since its first galvanized steel production line came on stream on August 31 2009.
The super thin coated & plated steel plate project, with the total area of 5,000 mus and CNY 20 billion investment aims to enhance the steel making capacity for an increase of added value. The company has independently realized many technological achievements and it totally changed the situation that the domestic demand of ultra thin coated plates ever depended on imported supply.
The major products are ultra thin 0.14mm to 0.35mm coated & plated steel sheet which can be widely used in building industry, household electrical appliances industry and light products industry, small ironware, decoration and food package making and etc. Besides, the products are shipped out to US, Germany, Italy and France etc with the growth of export value hitting at 20% to 30% per year. It also organized its Research & Development team to strengthen the independent innovation capacity and established close relationships with the famous cold rolling research centers and colleges in the world.
1. The first stage project with the annual capacity of 3.2 million tonnes has finished construction on May 18 this year with the investment of CNY 7 billion
2. The second stage 3 million tonnes per year project would come on stream next May, with the gross investment of CNY 6 billion. By the end of 2010, Quantong Company annual output may reach 1.5 million tonnes with the output value of CNY 9 billion.
3. The third stage construction will be completed by 2011.
The total gross investment of the projects will reach CNY 20 billion. Three Gorges Quantong is likely to form 10 million tonnes per year output capacity of coated & plated steel plate after it completes becoming world largest super thin coated & plated steel production base.
